To the ones who want to get it right on the first try

To the ones who want to get it right on the first try,

You won't. Not even close.

When you first start, you're going to feel disappointed with what you've created. It won't look like the ideal vision in your head. Instead of melancholy creation, it will feel as peaceful as pulling out a wisdom tooth. You'll be stretched, put your all into your work, and it will still end up looking like a hot mess.

That's a good thing.

Your blob of a project will show that you're brave

That you're willing to start before you're ready

That you chose to believe in yourself instead of listening to the doubts shouting your head

It's that tenacity that will separate you from those who never try. Those who have never tried are still waiting for their idea to ripen so they’ll be ready, but it is really just rotting. Rotting from stagnation. They’ve stuffed their idea into a box so that no one will ever have a chance to judge what they've created. The act they've done to protect their work from the world, actually just guaranteed them from ever feeling fulfillment.

But, you are brave.

It will be hard, but try again

Rest, breathe, feel the disappointment, and get back in the arena

It is just as risky to play it safe as it is to let yourself live, so might as well give yourself a fair shot to thrive.

You’ve got this and, deep down, you know you do.

Pick up your chin

You’ve got work to do
